Her Story

Yafit Taranto

Yafit Taranto is a video artist with a graphic design background. After finishing high school in Tel Aviv she moved to Amsterdam to study at the Rietveld Academy and Sandberg institute. At the same time she completed her art studies with a Masters degree (Cum Laude) in Literature studies at the University of Amsterdam. For sixteen years Yafit held a weekly VJ spot in the Melkweg and has extensive experience in creating large projections for festivals, such as Lowlands, Awakenings, Noorderslag and 5 days off.

After working years as a VJ at club evenings, raves and other parties Yafit naturally rolled to the world of Museums exhibitions. Her work was to see during “Reconstructing Stevens” exhibition and the Bedroom restoration at the Van Gogh Museum, the Jewish museum during museum night 2012 and many other museums exhibitions and cultural events.  Currently she is working as a coordinator for the Audio Visual department at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. Yafit is also busy with an audio visual project  based on the theories and works of Kandinsky and Schönberg.  At her free time she combines her passion for the arts with my natural attraction of working with elderly, in a voluntary art and literature workshops at senior homes.
